Broken Rhythms is a Victoria-based, registered not-for-profit dance company founded in 2011 under the artistic direction of Dyana Sonik-Henderson. The company was created to showcase the unique style of rhythmical contemporary, and to provide local artists with performance and training opportunities.
Broken Rhythms has created and produced over 17 original works, and this year added Edmonton International Fringe Festival to their list of Canadian arts events they have attended. Broken Rhythms also works with many local arts companies, such as Dance Victoria, Raino Dance, Convergence CBC, Intrepid Theatre, Bounce Dance, Pretty Good Not Bad, and Working Class Theatre. The company has received rave reviews across Canada, has been invited to perform and choreograph work from Vancouver to Halifax, received numerous Pick of the Fringe awards, as well as being nominated for Victoria’s Monday Magazine’s M Awards for Top Local Dance Company.
